Retainers & Retention

Patients receive customized retainers to prevent teeth from moving, followed by periodic check-ups for lasting straight results

About the service

Each patient receives customized retainers to help keep their teeth from moving once braces have been removed. Then, you will proceed to the retention phase.

The retention phase consists of periodic check-ups after your braces have been removed to ensure your teeth stay straight.

Once your braces have been removed, you also have the option of a special type of retainer bonded to the back of your teeth. This retainer holds your teeth in the correct, straight position and usually remains on your teeth for five to six years, at which time it will need to be replaced. This is typically done for only your bottom (lower) teeth.
